G.O.R.A is a science fiction comedy including a well organized love story. G.O.R.A's star and author is Cem Yılmaz who is accepted as the biggest Turkish comedian. In this film, audiences might see some familiar scenes but a little bit funny versions from "The Fifth Element", "The Matrix" and "Star Wars".
When we look at the romanticism in the film. Our young boy was a slave truant in a different galaxy from earth called Gora and the girl was the princess of Gora. Our couple met at a very perilous time, when their galaxy was in a threat by a meteorite. They had to kiss each others to save Gora with using four elements' stones and to activate their powers, because only love can do it. With their first kisses, love circle appeared and power of love saved Gora. But, their love was in dilemma due to their social positions. They were from different galaxies and the girl was a princess. On the contrary, boy was just a slave. However, their love grew up rapidly. Because, there was no love in Gora and our pretty princess was interested in humans' loves and boy was bastard and vagabond. But, while he was getting to know her, his behaviors refined. At the end of the story and in the second film, audiences understand that their love have continued for a long time since one million year bc.
When I last this film I never considered the love story. I was focused on the comedy that was different from what I was used to in the Canadian comedies that I watch. This is a great description that both you and Oguzhan have created. Though it maybe a very popular film in Turkey and because of that many people don't respect it very much I think all of the films which are the top earning films in their countries are important for some reason. They say that an idea that has come at the right time is unstoppable. So the highest earning or highest grossing films of all time are much the same. They came to a country and pleased the audience with exactly what was needed at the time. I also think that comedies are particularly good at reflecting these qualities in a society that people want.
